Pain Relief Salve

White Willow Bark contains the compound Salicin, giving this herb a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic property. Salicin is metabolized into salycilic acid, the primary ingredient in modern aspirin (chemical ingredient acetylsalycilic acid). Known as "nature's aspirin," it is important to note that White Willow Bark contains a much lower concentration of salicin than can be found in the chemical ingredient used in commercial aspirin products, but being a natural form it is much more potent.
Eucalyptus is known for it's pain relieving compounds, cineole and limonene, which naturally reduce inflammation and achy pains. Because of it's ability to decrease the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, inhaling the eucalyptus plant can also reduce perceived pain, balance blood pressure levels, and even lower stress! Eucalyptus is also known to boost production of the fatty acid ceramide within the skin, helping retain moisture.
The White Willow Bark and Eucalyptus is steeped in a menstruum of organic olive oil for at least 6 weeks to release their oil soluble properties. As a saturated fat, olive oil is very low in polyunsaturated fat compared to natural Vitamin E levels, and is highly nourishing and hydrating to the skin.
*For external use only. Always do a patch test on the skin before use. Do not use on broken skin, and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Always be sure to keep the lid screwed on tightly to prevent contamination of the product. Store this product in a cool dark place for 12 months.

To Use: This salve may be used topically for quick relief from achy muscles, joint pain, sprains, and generalized inflammation. Desired amount can either be applied directly to the skin, rubbed in with your fingers, or applied with a Q tip. Reapply as needed. Dosage is very dependent on bioindividual desires and results. Begin with a pea size dollop, and increase amount as needed.
